Equipment Operator - Hawthorne Portal
The Douglas County Highway Department is seeking an Equipment Operator to fill the Hawthorne, WI Highway location. An Equipment Operator serves as an operator of motorized equipment used to plow snow in winter months, construction, repair and general road maintenance of Douglas County roadways.
This position is required to work night shifts for the winter season, which typically ranges from 5-6 months out of the year. Specific shifts may vary throughout the season. Equipment Operators must be available on-call and during inclement weather throughout the winter season for maintaining county and state plow routes.
The work of the Equipment Operators involves the safe and efficient operation of equipment which include, but not limited to, trucks, dozers, rollers, graders and snowplows. Duties may include the minor repair and maintenance of equipment. The work is performed under the general supervision of a Working Foreman.
Operates the following listed equipment and any additional type allocated to these classes as assigned, in the construction, repair and maintenance of County roadways: 2 axle truck, 23-000 GVW or more, 4WD truck - 24,000 GVW or more, Rollers, Steamers, Mulcher, Tandems, Brush Chipper, Patrol truck (State Section), Tractors/Mowers, Rotary Broom, Concrete Mixer, Front End Loaders, Air Compressors (All other units not specified shall fall into this category until a class determination is made).
High School Diploma or or GED Required. Must possess a Wisconsin Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate class and endorsements. Minimum of one (1) year experience operating heavy equipment other than dump trucks or related experience is desirable. Employee must furnish some small hand tools.
