The General Maintenance Worker performs housekeeping tasks and minor equipment repairs in all buildings of the Minnesota Sex Offender Program – Moose Lake campus. In this role, the General Maintenance Worker demonstrates a responsiveness to facility needs, supporting a safe and secure facility in which clients receive quality professional services in a therapeutic environment that is safe for staff, visitors and clients.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

Performing housekeeping, sanitation and general maintenance work while providing supervision, direction and assistance to client worker(s), so that a safe, sanitary and aesthetically sound environment is maintained
Providing supervision, direction and assistance to client workers so that clients receive planned, coordinated, and comprehensive treatment
Maintaining and performing minor repairs on tools and equipment so equipment is kept serviceable and in good working order

Minimum Qualifications:

Resume must reflect each of the following qualifications listed below:

Knowledge of:

  • Different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents and equipment
  • Chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely
  • Methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs

Ability to:

  • Follow simple oral and written instructions, read and understand operational manuals, and keep simple records
  • Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction
  • Operate simple maintenance equipment
  • Stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, lift 50 pounds, carry, push, pull and handle items when performing duties

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience performing housekeeping or janitorial work within a large complex
