Lake Superior Consulting, LLC, a Shawcor Company, headquartered in Duluth, MN, is a team consisting of Engineers, Technicians and Support Specialists committed to providing a premier level of service to our customers in the pipeline industry. We provide many services to the pipeline industry, including but not limited to: Engineering Design and Project Management, Integrity Management, Welding Inspection, Coating Inspection, Survey, Quality Control, Inline Inspection, and Cathodic Protection.

We are currently growing at a fast pace and as part of that growth, we are seeking to fill a full-time Project Manager in our Duluth, MN office. The Project Manager will provide leadership, planning, and coordination of cross?functional teams to achieve project success. This leader applies technical expertise and sound judgment to establish an objective assessment of the project’s goals, requirements, and constraints. Executing project plans, monitoring project performance, and mitigating risk will be required daily. A history of successfully leading smaller projects and an understanding of the project management processes are essential.


  •  Develop project charters
  •  Work closely with the project integration managers and key stakeholders to:
  •  Develop proposals and cost estimates
  •  Identify key deliverables and milestones
  •  Establish baselines for project Scope, Schedule, Resources, and Budget
  •  Develop and execute project management plans
  •  Facilitate project kick?offs
  •  Communicate project plans to teams and gain stakeholder buy?in for successful execution of projects
  •  Provide leadership and frequent communication to guide, mentor, and direct the project stakeholders
  •  Monitor and manage project plans (scope, deliverables, %work complete, budget and schedule)
  •  Identify issues and risks, develop risk mitigation strategies, provide change management when necessary
  •  Manage expectations with the client, LSC team members, suppliers, and sub?contractors
  •  Provide conflict management

Directly responsible for:

  •  Facilitating Project Meetings
  •  Maintaining Action Item Lists 
  •  Ensuring Deliverables are met
  •  Transmittal History
  •  Change Orders
  •  Project Performance Metrics
  •  Project Status Reports
  •  Ensures all OQ, Safety, and Quality requirements are met
  •  Provide oversight for Project Coordinators and Associate Project Managers on sub?projects or smaller, low risk projects
  •  Provide direct support to Sr. Project Managers and Program Managers for large, complex projects or programs
  •  Evaluate goals, objectives, and deliverables to meet final project requirements
  •  Facilitate Lessons Learned
  •  Summarize project performance
  •  Close out projects

Position Requirements:

  • A minimum of three years of direct project management experience as a Project Coordinator or Associate Project Manager
  • A minimum of three years of technical experience in a science or engineering related field (may be concurrent with project management experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, or related technical discipline preferred
  • Strong desire to improve your leadership skills, with a proven history of successfully leading projects
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a variety of locations and work environments
  • Experience with developing and managing project schedules using Primavera, or MS Project
  • Sound financial skills, and the ability to interpret budgetary data
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to read/interpret basic technical information
  • Proficient in the English language.
  • Exceptional verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, history of conducting one’s self in a professional and ethical manner
  • Ability to keep sensitive information confidential is mandatory
  • Oil/gas industry experience a plus
  • PMP certification desirable
  • Broad knowledge of engineering across multiple disciplines is highly desirable

Physical Requirements and Demands:

  • Ability to work in an office environment where long hours of sitting may be required as well as travel to nonstandard workplaces to meet project and organizational requirements.
  • Ability to work a standard work week and meet requirements to work some evenings and weekends to meet project milestones and leadership responsibilities.
  • Ability to travel to the field 20% of the time for client meetings and project reviews
