The Duluth Entertainment Convention Center accommodates world-class events spanning conventions, sports, concerts, arts and entertainment. Be a part of the energy as our Sales Manager.

The Sales Manager position offers a creative, collaborative environment while building working relationships with prospective, new, and existing DECC clients. As Sales Manager, you will facilitate site tours, network with sales partners, research data, and aid businesses in ensuring the DECC is the best location for their conferences and conventions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Know DECC capacity, services, availability and capability
  • Maintain positive and productive working relationships with prospective clients, area convention, exhibition and hotel facilities and other area meeting venues
  • Compile and maintain database of prospects of clients. Research past clientele and find ways to create repeat business
  • Host site inspections to meeting planners
  • Produce proposals and conduct event and presentation bids to secure conventions and events
  • Travel to the Twin Cities as needed for sales calls
  • Travel to targeted national destinations 2 to 3 times per year for industry shows and sales calls
  • Join and participate in relevant professional organizations (national, regional or local) to increase business (MPI, MSAE, HSMAI, PCMA, etc.)
  • Partner and work with Visit Duluth sales staff for all major sales efforts
  • Attend hospitality meetings with local hotel and Visit Duluth Sales teams
  • Maintain statistical data pertaining to convention prospects, leads and bookings

Skills and experience:

  • Four-year degree or 3 to 5 years related experience in hospitality and/or sales
  • High proficiency in Word and Outlook
  • Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills

Salary and Schedule:

Salary is based on experience. Except when on sales calls, the Sales Manager works approximately 40 hours per week, from 8am to 5pm. When traveling or conducting site inspections or other business as needed, the Sales Manager travels nationally 2-3 times per year and to the Twin Cities monthly.
